For veterinarians

Help animals in need with your veterinary skills

As a veterinarian you can make a difference in several ways: by donating medication and supplies, or by rolling up your sleeves yourself in Belgium or abroad.

Donate your surpluses

As a veterinarian you probably regularly have surplus food, medication or medical supplies, expired or not. The shelters and organisations we work with often urgently need them. We make sure everything reaches the right organisations in the right way, in Belgium and abroad.

Help abroad

Would you like to help shelters and organisations abroad yourself? That can range from caring for animals and taking blood samples to neutering and spaying projects. We share our experience and put you in touch with organisations on the ground.

Work with us

Do you have experience with shelters abroad, or connections at pharmaceutical or pet food companies? Your network and knowledge help us enormously too.

The chair of Sanco Foundation is a licensed Belgian veterinarian and handles donations with the greatest care. Whenever veterinary procedures are carried out, we always draw up a written agreement.

Frequently asked questions

I am a veterinarian. How can I help?

By donating surplus medication, food or medical supplies, or by helping hands-on at shelters and neutering and spaying projects abroad. We are happy to put you in touch with organisations on the ground. For any veterinary procedure we always draw up a written agreement. Read more for veterinarians.

Can I donate medication, even if it has expired?

Veterinary medication, flea and tick treatments, dewormers and medical supplies are very welcome. We accept unopened medication up to two years past its expiry date, but not opened liquid medication that has expired. Everything is assessed and used by licensed veterinarians.

Do you only help animals in Belgium?

No. Sanco makes no distinction between Belgium and abroad: we always look at where the need is greatest at that moment. We support shelters and animal welfare organisations in Belgium and abroad, including by transporting relief supplies and sending veterinarians into the field.
